warpdisk.gif (1568 bytes) PORTMON.EXE   (38.5kb self-extracting file,extracts PrtPort.exe and PortEnum.Vxd)

Our Parallel Port Status Monitor utility for Windows 95/98/ME will dynamically display the state of the parallel port bits. In addition, you can click on the actual bits to manually toggle them. After saving this file to your disk, run it to extract the two files to the directory of your choice. Run PrtPort.exe to start the program.

PORTTYPE.EXE   (~85kb self-extracting file, extracts PortEnum.exe and PortEnum.Vxd)

Our PortEnum utility for Windows 95/98/ME will display your current port configuration as determined by Device Manager. After saving this file to your disk, run it to extract the two files to the directory of your choice. Run portenum.exe to get a listing of  port type, description, I/O address, IRQ and DMA settings for your system. This information, along with the results of the LISTIO program can be helpful in troubleshooting your setup.

Version 1.3 This version properly displays PCI-based parallel ports and adds support for BECP mode.

LISTIO.EXE   (8.21kb file)

The LISTIO program for DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows 95/98/ME, reads the BIOS table of your computer and displays the current COM and LPT port assignments. Use this program to determine what ports your BIOS shows that you have installed. In the following example, two LPT ports are installed, LPT1 at 378h and LPT2 at 278h. If an address displays 000h, as in the example of LPT3 below, your system BIOS is not registering anything installed there. This can be helpful in troubleshooting an install problem. For example, if you have just installed one of our cards at I/O 0278 as the second port in your system, running this utility should show 278h for LPT2. If the display reads 000h at LPT2, the card is not being registered by the BIOS. The most common reason for this would be that the card is not firmly seated into the bus slot in your system.

Third Party Utilities and Files

The free Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) Reader allows you to view, navigate, and print PDF files across all major computing platforms.

Two system libraries, MSVCRT.DLL and MFC42.DLL must be installed in your Windows System folder (System32 in NT) to run our driver toolkit. These files are routinely installed by products from a variety of vendors and, for many users, will already exist. If you do not have these files, you may download them here. (~579KB)

This datasheet from SMSC covers the FDC37C665/666 I/O controller. We use this controller on most of our I/O cards (such as the WarpExpress). (~644KB)
